Life in the kitchen

Green girl relaxes on a favorite blanket.
Purple girl takes an upper cut from orange girl. So much for being at a disadvantage in the submissive position!
Kit dreams of the day the pups are completely weined! She looks a little tired, doesnt she?
Thanks to all who called or emailed with concern about our safety Wed night. I was working on this blog entry when the sirens went off, so I quickly saved it, scooped up the pups and headed to the basement. It was an impressive storm, but passed rather quickly. The pups enjoyed the adventure of it all. Ignorance is bliss!

Catchin' up

The two lovely ladies with the lightest coats are yellow girl and red/pink girl. Here they pose for a formal shot. The hand holding was their idea. So cute!
Bert's friends Matt (aka Stank - yes we've had two cats named after him) and Jenni visited the ranch on Sunday for some puppy love.

Brrrrr!

Piper and Ranger await the arrival of Captian Jack (aka blue boy) in South Dakota.
Jack thinks he'd better bundle up... It looks really cold up there!

Our beautiful Mommy - Kit

Charlotte requested some pictures of Kit. Moms are so often overlooked in the pictures, working behind the scenes. Kit is a marvelous mommy, and still demands her share of the petting. As Liz says, "Kit owns me!" It's true, Kit looks forward to Aunt Liz's visits, because she will pet Kit as much as she wants - and that's a lot......

Puppy Saturday

Robert came home to meet the puppy pack, arriving Friday evening. Saturday brought family together to celebrate Feb/March birthdays and enjoy Kit and her bouncy brood.
Bert, Kellie, and Annie pose with pups. Are you talkin' to me!?

Every family gathering must end with Bert bench pressing Natalie. I wonder how many more years he can pull this off. I can picture Nat in a wedding dress, and Bert giving it a shot. He may need both Dave and Andrew's help at that point!

Dog naps

Tara takes a nap with Ranger and Piper. Looks like there is plenty of room for a pup in there as well! Must have been a busy day in South Dakota too.

Ray Seefeldt 'sleeps with the puppies'

After a week of hard work in St. Lou, Ray returns to the ranch, feeds the fish (now that the pond has thawed), walks the pups, gets his golf cart stuck in the mud and has to pull it out with the tractor that after the rough weather, has a dead battery! He then makes a delicious dinner for the two of us, and promptly settles in for a nap with the pups, who proceed to use their sharp puppy teeth to chew his toes and scalp. Oy! He really didn't mind though, cause he missed his grandpups all week. Welcome home, grandpa!

The Great Outdoors

The sun was shining, the sky was blue and we spent lots of time outside! We even met Sammy (the garage cat), who layed on his side and let us check him out. (oops, forgot the camera that time)
We ran, pounced on things and sniffed around. A great time was had by all!

New Nappin' Spot

The pups have a new favorite place to kennel themselves for naps. They gather under great grandma Doe's china cabinet. I'm sure she'd be pleased to provide shelter for such a lovely pack of pups!

Kickin' back

Red girl lounges on my legs. She's very sweet. She lost her red collar, so now is sporting hot pink! Dave and yellow girl. There's that black belly!

Fat Tuesday

Green girl checks out the new potty spot. I hope to see all four paws on the pad soon! EDITORS NOTE: While speaking with Charlotte tonight she commented that the pup in this photo is actually purple girl, not green girl! Sure enough, if you click twice to enlarge the photo you can see clearly the remnant of purple paint at the base of her tail matches the collar. Oops, my apologies to the pups for mixing them up!

Bring em on!

Kylie, Nat, two pups,one chair!

Teagen loves puppies!

William & Andy hold the wigglers.

Saturday Kit held her "Open Whelping Box" for friends and family. As you can tell by these pics, the kids and the puppies had a grand time. The adults did too, but no room for them on the blog!

Collars replace the paint

This week we all got color coded collars that match the paint patches we were sporting. It's not too easy to see the collars when we are up and about due to our beautiful coats, but here you see blue boy showing off his!

Love is in the air

It's Valentines Day, and what better kind of love to celebrate than puppy love?

On the move................

The puppies are up an at em' more and more every day! I am spending less time taking pictures, and more time cleaning little 'things' up off the floor. Ray carries them all in the blue basket from the whelping box to the laundry room, where they are now spending the daytime hours. Sunday Grandma Seefeldt came to love the puppies and Natalie is pictured here with purple girl, her favorite!

Chaos has ensued in the welping box! Everyone is up walking, barking, rough-housing and doodling on the floor. From time to time a pup actually ends up outside the box. Kit is feeding them less frequently, so we have introduced the pups to some cottage cheese mixed with soft dog food - yummy!

Let the games begin!

We're up on our feet and jousting with one another! Three weeks old tomorrow.

Charlotte congratulates Kit on her beautiful babies!

Kasi loves on yellow girl, but don't tell me I can't keep one!

Cary really can't wait to take little Range home to meet his Daddy! Cody gets cheek to cheek with one of the girls.

From South Dakota, Atchison, and Lenexa, the Shaw family members converged on the ranch to love on Ranger and Kit's pups.

A tisket a tasket, puppy in a basket

Andrew and Natalie came last evening to visit the puppies. They are great puppy sitters!

This is orange girl. She was not all that comfortable in the basket, but put up with it long enough to get these shots.

Kit mixes it up

The Shaw family (Ranger's peeps) stopped by today to congratulate Kit and have their first look at the litter. Cayleigh brought along her five week old boxer pups who wasted no time bellying up to the bar. Kit gracefully accommodated all the puppy appetites. What a great mommy! I'll post more pics of the Shaw's visit when I get some photos from Charlotte.

Ranger wants to know what the mailman looks like?!

A Chorus Line

I walked back to the closet this afternoon and found the pups all lined up like this. Of course the smallest girl a.k.a. "the runt" or red girl decided to dance to her own tune and face the other way. Everyone's eyes are open at least a little bit, and I saw red girl and blue boy wrestling this morning. Their muscle coordination is not very good yet, so it looked like two drunks in a brawl. The pups are two weeks old today.
